Design Inspiration
“Holly O.” designs simple, beautiful shoes with clean lines and unique details that are not found in the mass market. Women are unique creatures and although they want to be in step with the trends, they also want to stand out showing their own independent style. We also take pains to make our beautiful shoes as comfortable as possible.
Many of the pieces in Spring and Summer 2007 were inspired by the artwork of Rolf Armstrong and Billy De Vorss. Both men produced pin-up art work throughout the 30s, 40s and 50s. Their models captivate me. Their paintings depict beautiful women who are playful and flirtations, sexy and dignified. They are happy. They are sexy. I design my shoes for these women and try to bring out qualities that are sexy and playful but that maintained a degree of sophistication without too much fuss.
Spring and/Summer 2007 designed by Holly O. is decidedly feminine. There are floral and braided accents, sensuous curves and soft pliable materials. Holly O. leads with a look for day and evening wear that is beautiful and sexy, but leaves the overexposed world of glitter and stick on sequins behind. Holly O. will also bring to the market a new shoe construction created specifically for travel. The trend friendly platform design has a removable upper that can be interchanged with different colors and patterns*.
Favorites from Spring & Summer 2007: My absolute favorite is the snap shoe construction in a 70mm height that feels like a 50mm. We spent 3 years perfecting the design and finally have a shoe with the versatility and style that is sorely needed in the market. I also love the evening shoes with satin and suede accents with gunmetal hardware. The look is very sophisticated, elegant and yet somehow playful. Finally, I am a huge fan of the corset wrapped heel not just because it’s lovely, but because I got my inspiration for it during a fabulous day of skiing and I will always remember that day whenever I see the shoe.
